Risk-Constrained Environmental Economic Dispatch Project

“Risk-Constrained Environmental Economic Dispatch” (RCEED) Project is one of the Zhejiang Province Innovation Research Projects, from 2012 to 2013. Supervised by Professor Chuangxin Guo,  the student team (Yiqiao Xiao, Joseph Jiayong Li and Lily Qian Zhao) conducted a 15 month research of power system and related economic effects using MATLAB .

The aim of RCEED project is to enhance the reliability of controlling and the security of the according system, which would finally benefit the optimization between power electricity’s generation and dispatch as well as the study of its environmental conditions  and related economic outcomes.  The main focus of the project lays in the following subjects:

  • Qualified analysis of the secure level of the power system, risk-oriented system and its standards;
  • Setting of math models for RCEED, Optimum solution from Pareto;
  • Setting the simulation module for RCEED, testing the validity of the models.

The student team improved and detailed the three condition weather model of IEEE standard and took the environmental factors into account as well. A multi-objective optimization algorithms was thus developed. There is also a visualization of the weather model using “processing”.

The project was awarded with “The most popular research project” during the college research poster exhibition in summer, 2013
