Smart Mailbox is a course project conducted by Lily’s classmates from her minor major, Advanced Class of Engineering Education (ACEE) and her .
The idea came from Lily, who loves exchanging postcards with friends yet she is sometimes too lazy to check her distant mailbox from dorm. Besides, in some instance, she walked so far away from dorm to the mailbox only seeing that the mailbox was empty. “It would be really awesome if there is a device to notify me in dorm that mails have already got there!”, thought Lily. What’s even better, there could be another notification device right outside of the mailbox as well!
So the team designed and developed this Smart Mailbox with a single-chip microcomputer inside of it. To make it look better, Lily added a garden theme to the suite: when mails come, the rainbow lights outside of the mailbox would be lighted up and the little bee and flowers on the receiving device would swing.
Tada!
Here is a Video explains how it works. I made it in a rush two years ago and please forgive me 😛 (The background music credits to Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks and it’s not for commercial use)
The introduction brochure is also available here: [Part1][Part2]
Some day after the team had finished everything about the Smart Mailbox, the lab got stolen. Surprisingly, none of the expensive lab devices were gone but several students’ lab works including the Smart Mailbox. Maybe there were someones who could not wait to try this product! 😀
